Q: What is List: Daily Checklist?
A: List: Daily Checklist is an Android application that helps you build successful habits by allowing you to create a list of daily actions in a checklist format. By developing the habit of taking the right actions every day your goals that are supported by those actions are easier to reach.

Q: How does it help me reach my goals?
A: List: Daily Checklist follows the “Don’t break the chain” concept attributed to Jerry Seinfeld. Everyday you complete all of your actions you receive a check mark on a calendar. Once you get a chain of check marks you gain a level of commitment to not breaking that chain of check marks. Thus, you end up completing your daily actions.

The app also comes with a sleek widget for you home screen with visual queues that remind you to do the actions on your list.

Q: Where did the idea for List: Daily Checklist come from?
A: I was inspired to create the Daily Checklist after reading “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. In that book Darren Hardy points out the need for taking consistent action everyday to achieve goals over time.

Q: How do I add a new action to my list?
A: Touch the “+ Add” button in the bottom of the action list screen. The text for your actions goes in upper portion of the first screen. The attributes for this action can be changed below your action’s text.

The Goal tab allows you to add the action to an existing goal or create a new goal for the action.

The Note tab allows you to add a note concerning this action.

Q: How do I add a new goal?
A: Slide out the navigation bar and touch “Goals”. Then touch the “+ Add” button. The text for your goal goes into the upper portion of the screen. Attributes for the goal are below the goal’s text.

The Actions tab allows you to add existing action or create a new action for this goal.

The Tracking tab allows you to record numerical values for this goal.

Q: How do I view and share my past results?
A: Slide out the navigation bar and touch “Calendar”. Touch on a date to view the action status for that day. Clicking an action brings up a calendar showing the completion status of that action.

From the historical list of actions described above touch the three dots menu in the upper right. Touch ‘Share List Results”. Choose an application to use to share your list results through like your email app.

Q: How do I remove an action or a goal?
A: From the list of goals or actions press and hold the item until the menu pops up. Choose the ‘Delete’ option. Alternatively, you can edit the action, touch the three dots menu in the upper right, then touch ‘Delete’.

Q : My main List screen only shows actions scheduled for today. How do I access an action that has been disabled or is scheduled on a different day?
A: . From the action list screen press the day/date (like ‘Mon 30’) in the upper right of the screen. Touch ‘All’ at the top. This list shows all actions entered into your list. This allows you to access actions that have been disabled or are scheduled for days other than today.

Q: How do I silence the action completion sound?
A: From the main action list screen press the ‘Audio’ button in the lower left of the screen. Pressing this button toggles the completion sound on and off.

Q: What is Priority Significance?
A: Priority Significance specifies the minimum action priority level that has to be completed to earn a green check mark for the day. So, if your Priority Significance is set to ‘High’ then you have to complete all high priority actions to get a check mark for the day. If it is set to ‘Medium’ then you need to complete all medium and high priority actions to get a check mark for the day.

Q: My List did not reset last night. Why not?
A: The most common reason for the list failing to reset is because the phone or tablet prevented List: Daily Checklist from running in the background. Some device manufacturers, like Zenfone, Huawei and others have aggressive battery optimization policies that prevent some apps from running in the background.
The fix for this is to allow List: Daily Checklist to run in the background. This can usually be found in your devices settings.

Q: What is effort based scoring and how does it work?

Q: How do I schedule an action X times per week regardless of specific days?
Use the Float action type. This allows you to schedule an action between 1 and 6 times per week. The action is displayed in italic text while it is non-imperative. An action is imperative when it has to be completed today and the remaining days of the week to secure a check. Once the action becomes imperative it is displayed in normal text.

Q: How do I get the row of additional information under each action and goal in the main List screen?
The additional row of information is enabled in Quick Settings. Quick Settings is opened by taping on the gear icon in the lower right on the main List screen. The option is labeled “Show Detail Rows”.
